A personalised journey to understanding and support for Dyslexia

Teaching

Dyslexic people learn differently, and each individual needs a different strategy to learn literacy based on their strengths and challenges. I begin with some informal assessments of the different aspects of literacy, memory and phonological awareness to be able to better understand you/your child's unique profile. From there, I build a personalised plan of strengths and risk factors. Then, I plan a scheme of work that includes teaching strategies to help you/your child move forward in the areas of literacy and learning you/your child have struggled with to date.

  • Weekly, hour-long sessions in person at my classroom in Penrith.
  • Plans and activities devised for you/your child.
  • £42 weekly
  • The price includes planning, delivering, and evaluating each session, and creating/purchasing new activities as needed.
Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessment

Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessment

A diagnostic dyslexia assessment provides a clear, detailed profile of your/child's strengths and risk factors. It offers the formal evidence needed to unlock tailored support, legal protections, and personal reassurance.

Stages

  • Fill out an Assessment Request Form and Visual History and Difficulties Form.
  • If required, book an appointment for further investigation into visual difficulties.
  • When all visual difficulties have been addressed, or if there are none, complete the Family Background Questionnaire and send the Education Questionnaire to the school.
  • Book an appointment for the face-to-face element of the assessment.
  • Attend the assessment, which is approximately 3 hours long.
  • I will then build the report, which is extensive and covers background, cognitive areas of assessment, the impact on different aspects of literacy and other areas of learning, and also offers recommendations for teachers and further learning; if there is enough evidence for a diagnosis, this is built into the report too.
  • Assessments are £440. £225 deposit is required on booking, and the remaining amount is payable 48hours before the face-to-face assessment.

I do not currently hold the element enabling my reports to be used for Disabled Students Allowance for university students.

Consultation

Do you feel a bit lost with what to do next? Is the minefield of the SEND administration and pathways becoming a little too confusing or, do you want to understand your child or yourself more and have some specific questions about Dyslexia? A consultation can help you with all of these situations and more.

  • Book a consultation (please give a week for me to view any paperwork that you send).
  • I will send you a confirmation email and a link to my Google Meet space.
  • Send any relevant paperwork via email at least a week before the appointment.
  • I will review the paperwork and any prepared questions you have.
  • The consultation will be live during the time you have booked.
  • I will answer your questions and offer advice and guidance according to your situation.
  • Pricing: Consultations are £60 per hour; this includes the preparatory work required before meeting with you.

Please note that if you attend the consultation late, it will end at the specified time.
